Thor Movie Costume – Become The Norse God Of Thunder
There is bound to be a bit of renewed interest in Thor with the release of the movie this year based on the character. The movie is based on the Marvel comics version of Thor and not the traditional writings about him.

Like all these action adventure type movies coming out now, this one will have a 3 D version so that you can duck out the way as his hammer comes smashing down on the seat next to you. And, of course, for anyone that fantasizes about being the flame haired Norse god, there will also be a variety of Thor costumes too. In fact, you can get a Thor movie costume, a classic costume and even one for kids. This article will focus on the movie version.

So this outfit is not a viking costume as such but it has a strong connection to the Vikings. Thor was one of their most well known gods and embodied the spirit that the viking culture. Or maybe it was the other way round. The Vikings sought to be more like Thor.
Thor was a warrior and the Viking culture was a warrior culture. They would sail around the North sea and attack villages and towns when they reached land. They even settled in many places, particularly in parts of Ireland and northern England. Not to mention Iceland and Greenland (although there was not much to conqueror when they landed in these places.)
Thor also means Thunder and this is a characteristic of Thor. Thunder would come from his hammer or from the sky when he was fighting. Thor’s hammer was supposed to be able to destroy mountains so it was a pretty fearsome weapon.
The Thor adult costume is a good replication of the costume worn in the movie. It consists of a jumpsuit that details the armor that Thor wears. The jumpsuit also looks slightly padded to give a muscular look to the torso part of the costume.
There is also a detachable red cape and an elaborate looking helmet. The helmet will really make the costume as it covers the head completely and has the winged earpieces for full effect.
One thing that should be pointed out is that this costume does not come with the hammer that you see in the picture. You have to purchase this separately. I guess you don’t really need the hammer when all is said and done but if you want to make a great first impression at the next fancy dress party or even Halloween then you probably should get it.
