Who is He-Man?

Before all of the modern superheroes kids rave about today, there was He-Man.  Just like any other, he too had an alter ego.  Prince Adam of Eternia on a regular day, but when it’s time to do some saving, he raises his sword to the sky and calls on “By the power of Grayskull” and magically transforms.  Once it is complete, he finishes with “I have the power”.  But unlike any masked avenger of sorts, there are barely any differences between Prince Adam and He-Man- just a deeper voice and a darker skin tone and hair color.

What makes He-Man special has to be his superhuman strength.  He is so strong that he is able to literally move mountains.  There was even an episode where he carried an entire castle, Castle Grayskull, and threw it through a dimensional doorway of sorts.  Not only super strong but super smart as well- a rare pair, wouldn’t you agree?  So even with his amazing skills in combat, he usually uses his intellect to solve problems and only ends up in battle when there is no other choice.

Masters Of The Universe He-Man Costume

A little background on these Scandinavian seafarers

The Vikings, first and foremost, are primarily known to be raiders.  However, that is not all they were.  These Scandinavian seafarers were also settlers, traders, and explorers.   They have created their very own legacy by leaving a long list of family names and place names behind.  Even years and years later, these are still used and mentioned to this very day when dealing with traditions, customs, and folk tales.

Who were the Vikings to begin with?

More on the Thor Child Costume

So this costume is based on the movie that is set to come out this year (may apparently). It’s a blockbuster movie and it’s be released to get the blockbuster crowds in. And in this day and age, a blockbuster film means it will be shot in 3D.

The film is being directly by Kenneth Branagh which seems quite odd really as he is not really the type of guy to make action adventure, blockbuster type movies. He is best known for directing film adaptions of Shakespeare plays, most notably Hamlet.

However, in Shakespeare’s time, his plays were the action adventure, blockbuster equivalent so maybe Branagh will not struggle to make the movie. I’ll bet it’s slightly different to the normal superhero type film though.

The costume featured here consists of three pieces. There is the jumpsuit that covers the complete body. This replicated the body and leg armor that is worn by our hero. It has a 3D design, which means that it is not just a single colored piece of material but has detail in it to make it look like the wearer is really wearing body armor.

You also get a red cape that can be removed if that’s the way you roll. And the final piece is the winged helmet. This completely covers the head and looks pretty impressive.

One thing to note is that the all important hammer does not come with the costume. You have to get it separately which is a bit of a downer but it’s not that expensive and you don’t really need a hammer if push comes to shove.

This costume will be ideal for kids that are fascinated by the character, be it in the comic book form or more probably from the big screen. Or are interested in Viking costumes in general as part of their school studies or general reading. Little boys will be able to charge around the backyard dressed as Thor the Norse God of Thunder. It would make a great costume for Halloween or even a themed birthday party or some other get-together. If he has some buddies they could dress as other members of the Avengers and save mankind from the bad guys.

The Thor Classic Costume

So this item (as pictured) is called the classic costume. For classic I guess you can read old. It is a version of the Thor costume before the new movie came out. Surprisingly, it looks very similar to the new fangled 3D costume. The colors are the same and the general style is very similar. I guess this is because they are both based on Thor from the Marvel comic book.

Both costumes have the red cape that you see in the comic books. They both have the unique type of  armor with the metal discs around the collar bone and hips. They also have a black brown color armor for the rest of the outfit.

The classic costume differs slightly from the new one in that there is no 3D detail on the black brown armor. And also the helmet is slightly different. It is a bit more subtle. The ear wings are smaller and the helmet just rests on the head rather than completely covering it.

In terms of what you get with this costume, the main item is like a jumpsuit that you wear. Added to that is the cape. It looks like you can’t detach the cape but I’m not sure about that. And of course you also get a helmet.

Like the other Thor Halloween costumes, you don’t get the iconic hammer. This would have to be purchased separately.

This costume is slightly cheaper than the new costume, even though both are heavily discounted at the moment.

Thor From The Marvel Comics

Thor first appeared as a Marvel comics character in 1962 in a one off edition. The character was well received to such an extent that he got a call up into the Avengers team. He’s been a hammer pounding member of the Avengers ever since.

The Avengers are a team of superheroes that seem to get contracted in and out of the team when needs must. Strangely enough Thor has been an ever present even when more well known superheroes like the Hulk and Ironman have been booted out. He must be doing something right. The aim of the avengers is to fight evil villains that have more power or strength than just one superhero. They’ve been busting the bad guys for close to 50 years now. What’s more a big screen adaption of their story is being made as we speak. I bet it’s made in 3D too.
