Avengers Thor Elite costume

With the blockbuster season upon us, movies like Battleship, the third Batman movie in the series, a  rebooting of the Spider man story and a few others are sure to have folks munching popcorn in the cinema stalls. One movie that has just come out and done well at box office and received generally good reviews is The Avengers.

Most people are familiar with the Avengers if they have ever read comic books. They are a team of super heroes or people with special abilities. They come together to battle bad guys and people that have ambitions to subjugate the population of the Earth – nasty individuals you could say. One of the team happens to be Thor and is actually the same Thor that featured in the movie from last year. Chris Hemsworth reprises the role.

In the Avengers movie the team are pitted against Loki, who has plans to rule the Earth and subjugate the population thanks to a powerful device known as the Tesseract. This created great power which Loki can wield with impunity. He doesn’t look like a nasty guy but in reality he is…or maybe he’s just a little bit misunderstood.

The funny thing is that is is actually Thor’s brother (well adoptive brother apparently so they don’t have the same genes). Both characters are based on Norse mythology. Thor in Norse Mythology is the God of Thunder.

The Norse Code

Like many pre-Christian western civilizations, the Norse or Vikings had many Gods to explain who they were and why they were here. Thor is described as a hammer-wielding god. His trust hammer even has a name – Mjolnir. If you’ve read the comics or seen any Thor movies, you will know that Mjolnir is a pretty powerful weapon.

Back to the mythology, Thor is associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing, healing, and fertility amongst other things. He’s an all rounder you could say.

Loki is almost the mirror opposite of Thor and this is perpetuated by the fact that they are brothers in the Avengers movie. Loki is the bad brother, the black sheep of the family. In Norse mythology he is also a god but he doesn’t seem to have any distinctive abilities and take care of things. He seems to be more of a mischief maker.  He causes the downfall of other Gods in Asgard (the home of Norse gods)  and is eventually killed by the other Gods.

In the movie, he doesn’t have such a final conclusion but I won’t spoil it for you.

If these kinds of characters appeal to you or dressing like a Viking is something you’ve always had on your bucket list then the good news is that you can get Thor and Loki costumes inspired by the movie. They are not bad representations of the outfits worn by the actors.

Avengers Thor Muscle costume

The Thor costume

The Avengers Thor Elite Costume is the best of it’s type. You get pretty much everything you see in the picture except for the boots. So this means you get the black leather effect jumpsuit and vinyl chest armor, a pair of arm gauntlets and a pair of vinyl boot covers. You also get a the red cape but strangely you don’t get a helmet. I would have thought the helmet was an important part of the costume but anyway there you go, maybe Thor doesn’t wear the helmet in the movie. This is an officially licensed The Avengers product.

You can also get a less elite costume which is basically referred to as the Thor muscle costume. This has the same look as the elite costume only that the fabric doesn’t have the leather effect to it . The chest armor is made of the same fabric and is a one piece with the pants.

The unique part of this outfit is the padded arms and chest to make the wearer look more muscle bound than he actually is. It’s a fun look anyway and cheaper than the elite costume. This costume is available for kids as well as adults.

Avengers Loki costume

The Loki Costume

The Loki look is described as “The Avengers Loki Deluxe Costume”. It comes with a coat, a detachable cape, and a helmet. Check out the picture.

One thing to note about the picture is that the costume doesn’t include the shirt, pants or boots so you would have to get some matching colored gear to complete the look. Like the Thor costume it is an officially licensed Marvel costume.

Given that there was a Thor movie released last year, you can get the Thor and Loki costumes based of that movie. They don’t look that different from the new outfits. The old Thor costume doesn’t have the cape and doesn’t seem to bother with the blond locks but other than that it very similar. The Loki outfit is also very similar – the headpiece looks a bit more ornate in the new costume and he also wear a sort of jacket in the new costume but other than that, it the same.

Viking Warrior Costume

This Viking costume has everything your little guy needs to be the big man on the block complete from head to toe.  For starters, put on the black velvet tunic that is lined with a silver pattern on all the ends- the V neck line, the bottom hem, and the ends of the sleeves.

Although it seems like there is gold chain mail underneath, it really is just one piece as you see traces of it under the neckline as well as the part where the short sleeves supposedly end.  Over the matching black pants you put on the matching boot covers that are made of faux grey fur and have little brown strips of faux leather crisscrossing its way up.

The wrist cuffs look exactly the same.  Actually, you will also find the same faux fur lining the top of the black cape that you can drape over – complete with gold accents.

Top it all off with the classic Viking helmet and the look is complete.  The only thing that you have to add yourself is a good pair of shoes to match the whole look.

Barbarian Girl Costume

Girls can get just as rough and rowdy as boys, and this Viking costume proves it.  Your little girl will look tougher than ever in the Barbarian Girl costume.

So go ahead and put on the tan faux suede dress that comes to be just a few inches about the knee.

The V neck has a dark brown leather lining that runs down the middle all the way to the bottom of the dress.  The hem as well as the sleeves are then lined in very light brown faux fur.  Tie it all together with the wide brown belt that has little gold studs going around the middle then put on the matching wrist cuffs as well.

Simply throw on a pair of boots to match the whole ensemble and let the trick or treating begin.  If you really want to go all out, you might as well throw in a matching helmet and maybe even a sword or shield.

Viking Warrior Costume

There is just something about this look that girls won’t be able to resist without you having to show off those rock hard abs of yours, if you even have them that is.

The top is a long sleeved dark brown faux suede shirt.  Around the collar and right down the middle faux light brown leather adds a good contrast of sorts.  A black tie crisscrosses up the neck line and there are little gold studs that add a nice touch.

Below the collar is faux white fur as well as at the ends of the sleeves.  On each one, there is a black X to make the outfit even more interesting.  Actually, the boot covers are pretty much the same.

A Viking wouldn’t be complete without his helmet.  So top it all off with the matching dark brown one also lined in the same faux white fur and, of course, with two horns sticking out on the sides.

Now, if you are leaning more towards the rough and rugged look, the Conan The Barbarian Costume is just the thing you need.  Ok, Conan wasn’t a Viking but his story was set in a time when the Vikings were kicking but in Europe…so you can get a bit creative with your costume choice.

Sure, this outfit may be a bit different from the others, but isn’t that supposed to be a good thing?  You are sure to stand out and look as strong as ever once you put on this muscle top.

It features a molded chest and six pack with little cuts here and there.  After all, nothing is sexier than battle scars.  One sleeve is black faux leather covered with little silver circles and extends all the way to the hand, kind of like a long fingerless glove of sorts.

The other sleeve is pretty much the same flesh color as the torso up until the wrist area where it turns into a faux dark brown suede material also giving the illusion that you have another shorter glove on.  The same faux suede material is used for lower half with dark brown faux leather strips draped on top.  Put on the matching boot covers and the whole look is complete.

This costume could also pass as a gladiator type of costume too.

The Avengers Thor Classic Muscle Chest Costume

Your little boy won’t seem so little with this look on. The Viking Vixen costume is basically a skin tight chocolate brown bandage skirt with a side seam trim paired with a plunging V light brown faux fur top.  Actually, the only thing holding the top in place is the tiny rope clasp found at the bottom of the neckline.  Now how is that for sexy?  Instead of a full helmet, put on the matching headband that comes with the whole package.

Staying true to a Viking costume, there are horns on the sides with little faux fur detailing around each one- the same faux fur that is used for the top.  All you really need is to add a pair of boots, preferably really high ones, and the whole look is complete.

No one will dare mess with someone as strong and at the same time scary as you so go ahead and scour any dress up event with this tough ensemble on.  But before the raid begins, let’s go into further details and take a closer look.

Nordic Viking Costume Details

The base of this Viking costume is a pitch black tunic that has little drapes of dark brown faux leather falling on each side- this kind of looks like a vest of sorts.  To add to the whole look, it also comes with a wide detached faux fur collar with an asymmetrical hem running along the bottom.  In fact, it is so wide that it covers the collar bone all the way over the shoulders.  The same light brown fake fur is used on the long arm cuffs as the base.

Then simply put on a pair of pants to match.  Black would probably be your best bet because it will go with the tunic perfectly.  Remember that these Vikings were not ones for bright and bold colors.  For the shoes, you can always use a pair of old brown lace up boots, high cut of course.

But, if you really want to go all out and fully take on the role for the evening, it would be really cool if you could have a plastic sword or some other weapon of sorts in hand.

Masters Of The Universe She-Ra Costume

With this superhero look on, you will look super hot.  You won’t need to bring out your sword with Masters Of The Universe She-Ra Costume on.  All you have to do is bat your eyes here and there and the men will surely be at your every beck and call.

This low cut white mini has gold accents that are sure to make you shine out of the crowd- not that you’ll need any help.  There is a gold emblem in the middle of the bodice encrusted with a turquoise jewel.  A strip of gold wraps around the waist area, showing off those voluptuous curves.  Even the hand cuffs are made from the same metallic fabric.

Who is He-Man?

Before all of the modern superheroes kids rave about today, there was He-Man.  Just like any other, he too had an alter ego.  Prince Adam of Eternia on a regular day, but when it’s time to do some saving, he raises his sword to the sky and calls on “By the power of Grayskull” and magically transforms.  Once it is complete, he finishes with “I have the power”.  But unlike any masked avenger of sorts, there are barely any differences between Prince Adam and He-Man- just a deeper voice and a darker skin tone and hair color.

What makes He-Man special has to be his superhuman strength.  He is so strong that he is able to literally move mountains.  There was even an episode where he carried an entire castle, Castle Grayskull, and threw it through a dimensional doorway of sorts.  Not only super strong but super smart as well- a rare pair, wouldn’t you agree?  So even with his amazing skills in combat, he usually uses his intellect to solve problems and only ends up in battle when there is no other choice.

Masters Of The Universe He-Man Costume

Don’t worry, you do not have to start working out if you want to go as this superhero from the 80’s.  The Masters Of The Universe He-Man Costume will make even the lankiest and skinniest person alive look like one pumped up hunk of a man.

A little background on these Scandinavian seafarers

The Vikings, first and foremost, are primarily known to be raiders.  However, that is not all they were.  These Scandinavian seafarers were also settlers, traders, and explorers.   They have created their very own legacy by leaving a long list of family names and place names behind.  Even years and years later, these are still used and mentioned to this very day when dealing with traditions, customs, and folk tales.

The Vikings originated from Scandinavia- Denmark, Norway, Sweden.  It was only until the Viking age, also known as the Scandinavian Expansion, which took place somewhere around AD 800-1050 that they spread to different parts of the world.  These places ranged from Europe all the way to the North Atlantic.

Originally, the Vikings worshiped and adored the Gods Thor and Odin.  However, in the 10th century, many of them turned to Christianity instead.  Due to their conversion, they brought this religion back with them to Scandinavia.
